on our way home (pt. 1)

We started our journey back home early Thursday morning, with plans of staying the night in Tucson. Instead, we decided to drive straight to north L.A. where we were staying with Josh's family. It was so worth the long drive to be able to put Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona behind us in one day!
Good thing our remote for the camera came just in time for pictures by the side of the road!

You see this tree? I call it a Confetti Tree. My grandma used to have one of these in her front sidewalk in Mexico, and I can't go by one without thinking of my childhood. My sister and cousins and I would take the little leaves off their stem and throw them around, like confetti (much to my grandma's annoyance, as she keeps a very tidy home). This is how you do it:
Step 1: Pick leaves.

Step 2: Throw in the air! Step 3: Smile!

Josh is such a boy, finding rocks and railroad stakes on the ground...

I have so much more to share from our trip so far. Tomorrow morning we are headed down to Josh's family's house on the beach in Mexico for three days of relaxation (and food!). I am so excited to have a few days of sitting, sunning, and little else.

I've felt a little disconnected for the past couple of weeks, being so busy packing, cleaning, moving, and now traveling! What a nice little surprise to find out that I was featured on the ModCloth blog this past week! You can read my feature here.

I promise I'll get back to reading everyone's blogs and replying to emails after Mexico! I've also picked up an insane amount of cute dresses and items for the shop that I can't wait to list. AND on top of that, I'm working on another blog project with Annie from Time Enough For Drums that I can't wait to debut (hopefully super soon)! Phew, I'm getting super busy!
