Tuesday was Starr's last day in NYC, so us roomies took some time to enjoy Central Park and take lots and lots of pictures before she had to cab it to the airport.

(I'm wearing vintage everything, all thrifted)

I loved rooming with Annie and Starr. They are the sweetest girls, so down-to-Earth and easy to talk to about anything and everything. I'm just waiting for Annie to decide she's moving to Portland so we can hang out all the time, open up a bookstore/vintage shop combo, work on crossword puzzles, and watch Gossip Girl together!

(the wind was doing funny things to us all day!)
After our walk in the park, we sat on the steps of the Met for a while before sending Starr off. Annie took off for a show, and I enjoyed a cupcake and magazine by myself, then took a very long walk before heading back to the hotel. Annie and I ended the night by feasting on some bbq with Morgan, Tieka, and Elizabeth. As much fun as I had, I was so exhausted by the end of that day, that I was so glad that Annie was into the idea of picking up some dessert on the way back to the hotel and taking it easy for that night.
The thing is, I have always thought that I'd like to live in New York. This trip was my third trip to the city in less than one year, and I was expecting to be sad when I left. Mostly, I was so exhausted the whole time. Sure, traveling while pregnant took more out of me than traveling while not, but the city is just so over-stimulating! That can be good (I love taking the subway and being surrounded by people), but it was also kind of too much. I'm sure it's a bit different if you LIVE in New York, and you have a home to go to, rather than living out of a hotel. I wouldn't be in a hurry to try and see everything if I lived there, either. This time around, I took breaks whenever I needed to, even if that meant sitting in a hotel by myself while the other girls went out and had fun. I'm so happy I got to go on this trip, but I'm also very glad to be back home, with Josh; the rain; the gloomy clouds; the slower paced life; my decent sized city; and trees!! (Josh is very glad to hear this, because now I'll finally stop bugging him to move to NYC with me!)
these photos are so stinkin' cute! i love that first one of you and Annie, and the one where Annie looks pregnant. haha, i'm like 'omg, Annie, your dress!!'
ReplyDeleteMiss you girls so much!
I like your pink dress and Starr's denim jumper. Looking at Central Park makes me wish I was in NYC this week.
ReplyDeleteAll of you girls look so cute!

i love these photos soooo much! I love the wind in your dresses, hehe
ReplyDeleteI find it really interesting that all the out of town bloggers who went to fashion week are now posting the same 'New York is too overwhelming I was happy to leave' sentiment. I went to college in NYC so I'm a little sensitive to the comments, because I miss it so much! Anyway, I was glad to read your explanation and thought you said it eloquently and inoffensively. It certainly is different living there than visiting for a week, especially during one of the most busiest weeks! New York certainly can be slow if you want it to be slow. It's moldable, which makes it as fabulous as everyone says it is. Can you tell I miss it? And I live in Chicago now, so its not like it was a drastic change. Still. My heart lives on 23rd and 9th ave. Anyway, thanks for sharing, love your blog. Best, Sam.
