Snow day

Every year in Portland, we get an inch or two of snow. Every year in Portland, the city freaks out about the snow, schools and businesses close down, and the local news makes up an overly dramatic name for the storm*. Today's "storm" was called FEBRUARY SNOW BLAST!! By the time I was done taking some pictures in our backyard, the majority of the snow had melted away. It did start snowing again, but most likely it will all melt and turn into ice over night. That's the Portland way!

I borrowed this dress from the shop, the colors were just perfect for a wintry snow day! I'm having a challenging time dressing this post-pregnancy body. It's a funny transition period, where my maternity clothes are too big and my pre-pregnancy clothes are [way] too small. For now, loose dresses it is! You can't really tell, but I layered a couple of pairs of tights, both for warmth, and because I bought a pair of hunter green tights from Zara and I look like Robin Hood in them!

*To this day, my favorite storm name is from a couple of years ago. It was "WICKED WINDS!!" and the graphics were letters that spell that blowing onto the screen, then being blown away. I wish my job was to come up with ridiculous news-story titles and graphics. I think I'd be pretty great at it.

  2. I always laugh at those names for storms --and military operations--too. Here today I saw it called "Snowpocolypse"--all inch of it!

You are beautiful in that blue!

  6. We moved to Central Oregon 7 years ago and there was a lot of snow at our place. No snow in P-town. Yesterday i wasn't sure I was gonna get to leave my driveway, and I was laughing because I figured Portland had labeled the day of snow as a blizzard. hee hee, you look great!

  11. That dress looks great on you! That's funny how they make up names for the storms. Our little city acts the same way when it snows! It's pretty funny...the grocery stores are always slammed when snow is in the forecast.

  13. Being a fellow Portlander, I had to laugh. We can't believe how crazy this town gets over a few inches of snow. Last years "Arctic Blast" still has us laughing.

    Oh, and cute outfit!

  16. I adore your necklace, I've really been into natural gemstones lately.

Sadly we see way too much snow here in Chicago. Feb 1 we had a snowmageddon/blizzaster/snowpacalypse. The media had a heyday coming up with names for our storms too!

  19. Ohh enjoy the snow! It snowed for all of half an hour when I was in Portland in January & I was so thrilled I went outside to run around (it was the kind of snow that never really sticks to the ground though..so I just got drenched! hehe)

  21. You look great. I used consignment stores that specialized in mom and baby stuff for my clothes for a long time after I had my boys. I would trade in my old maternity stuff for things that fit, and then would trade that stuff back in when I lost more weight. It was a big money saver.
